May 2026: fiestas, community spirit, and full hearts at Wallsend Manor Aged Care

May 2026 was vibrant, generous, and full of the kind of energy that makes Wallsend Manor Aged Care feel so alive.

We kicked off the month in spectacular style with a Mexican Fiesta that had everyone talking. The afternoon was a riot of colour, with delicious Mexican food and refreshing margaritas setting the scene for a truly festive occasion. What made it even more special was seeing our staff throw themselves into the spirit of the day right alongside our residents.

We also made great use of our air fryer this month, turning out hot chips and fresh crusty bread rolls that had everyone coming back for more. There is something deeply satisfying about peeling, cutting, and cooking together, and the results were every bit as delicious as they looked.

Our community came together beautifully for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, with the Manor transforming into a vibrant vision of blue and yellow in support of a truly worthy cause. We are incredibly proud to have raised $150, and our heartfelt gratitude goes to every single person who attended and donated so generously.

May also brought a wonderful run of celebrations and visitors. We marked International Nurses Day with real warmth and appreciation for our incredible nursing team. The Wangi Singers delivered a captivating performance that filled the Manor with music. Happy hour with Wayne Rogers was, as always, a highlight, and ice creams all round made sure nobody went home without a smile. A trip to a local preschool brought the kind of joy that only comes from spending time with little ones, and our residents loved every moment of it.

The standout visit of the month came from Lindy, accompanied by Ike and Zora, two dogs currently training to become guide dogs. They were an absolute hit, and the warmth and wonder in the room during that visit was something truly special.

May at Wallsend Manor Aged Care was a month full of laughter, community, and generosity. We are grateful for every moment of it.
