Wallsend Manor | Autumn newsletter 2026

Our autumn newsletter is here

The Wallsend Manor autumn newsletter has arrived, and this edition of The Wallsend Wrap-Up is full of the moments that made the season so special. From Easter celebrations and a moving Anzac Day service to bus outings, friendly competition and a fiesta afternoon to remember, there is plenty to catch up on.

A season of celebration

Autumn kept us busy from the very first week. March brought our Big Pong championship, with congratulations going to John on taking out the title, and we welcomed Billy, a volunteer hairdresser who gave a few of our gentlemen a makeover during happy hour. Easter was filled with craft, a paint and sip session, biscuit baking and a very special visit from our volunteer Trevor, who arrived with Easter eggs for everyone.

April was just as full, with a sweet trip to Donut King at Wallsend Plaza, a visit to Fletcher Coffee Hub, plane watching at Williamtown and a beautiful Anzac commemorative service featuring Byron Dodd on the bagpipes, supported by Cardiff RSL sub branch. We also celebrated our Facebook page reaching 1000 followers, which we could not have done without you.

May brought one of the most talked-about afternoons of the season, when the Manor was transformed into a colourful Mexican fiesta complete with margaritas for all the amigos and senoritas in the room. We came together for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, raising $150 for a truly worthy cause, and enjoyed visits from the Wangi Singers, Wayne Rogers and Lindy with her guide dogs in training, Ike and Zora.

Stories from our community

In this edition you will also meet some of the wonderful people who make Wallsend Manor what it is. Our Meet the Resident feature introduces Jim, who was born in Sandgate in 1936, taught himself piano by ear and will happily tell you that no one makes a cup of tea quite like he does. In Meet the Team you will get to know Paul, a former foreman bricklayer who says the residents are the reason he enjoys coming to work each day.

There are also seasonal messages from our Facility Manager Bronwyn, Lifestyle Coordinator Mandy, and our clinical and quality teams, along with a delicious silverbeet, fennel and ricotta cannelloni recipe from Chef Vincent and a games corner to keep you busy over a cuppa.
