The Wallsend Manor Summer Newsletter 2026 Is Here
Summer 2025/26 at Wallsend Manor was loud, warm, occasionally chaotic, and completely memorable. The Wallsend Manor Summer Newsletter captures all of it!
From the Maitland Musical Society leading Carols by Candlelight in December, to the Hunter Riders roaring into the car park on Australia Day with their Harley Davidsons, to a thong-tossing competition that crowned an unlikely but thoroughly deserving champion, the residents and team at Wallsend Manor had a summer worth documenting.
The choir made their first-ever public performance. Chef Vincent and his team produced a Christmas feast that people are still talking about. The Art Group's collaborative work was accepted into the Newcastle Show. A yellow-faced whip snake made an unscheduled appearance. Ice cream sodas transported people straight back to their younger selves.
In this edition you'll also meet Nav, who says Wallsend Manor feels like a second home after four years on the team, and Jan, a former Mayfield bakehouse owner and self-described grandmother to a bunch of "bloody buggers," who insisted she was nowhere near interesting enough for a feature. She was wrong.
Clinical Care Coordinator Colleen shares a seasonal update on how the care team is preparing for autumn, and Quality Manager Lee introduces PainChek, the AI-powered pain assessment tool now supporting residents who may not be able to communicate discomfort directly.
There's a note from Chef Vincent, a games corner, and a noticeboard full of the practical things that keep community life running.
